Hitachinokuni Trail Club
operates with the support of the Kilian Jornet Foundation.
The Hitachinokuni Trail Club’s activities are also supported by the Kilian Jornet Foundation (KJF).
The Kilian Jornet Foundation, established in 2020 with world-renowned mountain athlete Kilian Jornet at its core, supports initiatives for mountain environmental conservation.
Through its project named “Restore the Trail (RTT),” it supports activities worldwide to protect mountains and natural environments from the risks posed by the overuse of natural resources, environmental degradation, and climate change.
The Foundation partners with local communities in six countries worldwide to support trail maintenance activities. In Japan, it began supporting the Hitachi Province Trail Club in 2025.
Details of this support are also available in the article on the Kilian Jornet Foundation page, so please take a look.

By traveling from village to village, you come to understand the lives of people from long ago, their oral traditions, and historical ruins.
You come to understand the people living there today even more deeply.
It is this emotional movement, these small moments of wonder, that you can experience so abundantly through trail maintenance. That, I think, is the charm of walking the Hitachinokuni Long Trail.”
I think that’s what it means to ‘feel moved.’
It’s not about doing it to get approval from someone else’s perspective,
but about discovering things you didn’t know, seeing landscapes you couldn’t see before.
That’s what moves your heart, allowing you to experience the world through your own eyes.
That feeling is enjoyable, and I hope it spreads even further.”
