CULTURAL&FOLKLORE-SE06:Kawa Plaza~A base with many faces
Roadside Station Hitachi-Omiya may be more widely known by its nickname “Kawaplaza” than by its official name.
As the name suggests, the roadside station stands on a wide riverbed where the Kuji River meanders widely, and while it is an oasis along the national highway, it is also close to the station and accessible by train or bus, making it an unusual style of roadside station.
It offers more than just a large parking lot, restrooms, retail facilities, and restaurants, as most roadside stations do.
The station also offers a large parking lot and restrooms, as well as a variety of shopping facilities and restaurants. Visitors can experience harvesting at the adjacent farm, or grill freshly caught sweetfish from the Kuji River over charcoal and enjoy it right away. Barbecue facilities are also available, so you can enjoy a delicious time with fresh vegetables from the direct sales market and local meat (reservations required).
Please make multiple use of “Kawa Plaza” as an exit and entrance to the southeastern part of the Hitachinokuni Long Trail.
