The Hitachinokuni Long Trail is a 320 km(*) long trail that spans six cities and towns in northern Ibaraki Prefecture at the northern tip of the Kanto region.
It is not just a long trail course that aims to traverse long distances while entering a mountainous area. The walker can walk through a variety of landforms, views, and historical sites while repeatedly visiting villages and mountains. The trail is a “Satoyama, Community, and Environment” trail.
The Hitachinokuni Long Trail is a circular course around a “Satoyama”. The trail is easily accessible, and you can start walking from anywhere and plan how far you want to go.
The course spans six cities and towns in the northern part of Ibaraki Prefecture, and connects the satoyama with the unique local resources that have been cherished by each community.
On the Hitachinokuni Long Trail, you can walk to connect the village and the mountains to experience a variety of extraordinary everyday life and repeatedly encounter moving experiences.
We aim for sustainable environmental maintenance and management by recapturing satoyama culture and local resources as a proud symbol of the local community.
Led by the “Ibaraki-kenpoku Long Trail Cooperation Team,” organized by local volunteers, many local people will be involved in trail development, maintenance, and preservation activities rooted in the community.
*The total length of the Long Trail, approximately 320 km, is an estimated distance at this time.
