HISTORICAL-NE03:Greats of the Trail
The “Jyuckokubori” that you will follow in NE-46 to 48 is an irrigation canal that was developed during the Edo period (1603-1868). It is amazing to see that the canal, built with the passion of the local people at that time, still brings clear water to the region. The area around NE-49 is also the birthplace of Nagakubo Sekisui, who drew a map of Japan for the benefit of the public before Ino Tadataka, and where his amazing creativity was nurtured. Walking along the trail while remembering the great achievements of our predecessors will deepen our spirit of exploration.
