The Ibaraki Prefecture North Long Trail is a circuit course that spans the prefecture’s north 6 cities and towns. There are various access methods, and you can walk freely from anywhere and anywhere.
For some courses in the central area that have been opened as of March 2022, the starting point in the south is Kegano and the starting point in the north is near Shimonomiya Station. Since you can walk from either side, it is not decided as a start or a goal.

The difficulty and intensity of walking depends on the area, but the course in the central area, which has been opened as of 2022, has few replenishment points and there are places where intense ups and downs are continuous, so it is suitable for healthy legs. Please note that there are some points of conflict.
Make a plan with sufficient walking distance and schedule. Enjoy trekking within a reasonable range, such as walking while finely dividing the distance or walking the course with a piston. It is especially hot in the summer, so if you are not confident in your physical fitness, please avoid unreasonable behavior.

There are toilets and shops where you can procure water on and around the course. Please check the map for details.

Although the radio wave condition differs depending on the model, you can generally make calls and communicate on the ridge. It may be out of service on intricate terrain or off ridges.
It is recommended to use it together with a map / compass.

Bonfires are prohibited on courses in the central area, which opened in March 2022. The use of fire such as burners is also prohibited.

Vehicles such as bicycles are currently prohibited on the mountaineering course. It is possible to use it near the station or in a hot spring town, but please be careful about the surrounding road conditions.

Spring: Sudden changes in the weather are expected in early spring, so be sure to prepare enough equipment such as warm clothes and rain gear. Please note that there are some points of conflict.

Summer: The Daigo region is a region that records high temperatures even in the prefecture. Please be careful about heat stroke etc. through sufficient hydration and sunshade measures.
In the warm season, wild animals and plants are also active. Please be careful about insect repellent measures.

Autumn: Please pay attention to the river conditions and public transportation schedules during the typhoon season.
The area around Fukuroda Falls is very crowded during the autumn leaves season, so make a plan with plenty of time.

Winter: Although the area is not easily affected by snow, please check the weather conditions carefully and prepare equipment that can handle winter mountains.

It is not recommended to walk only on the signs on the course. Download the map in advance and make a reasonable plan. On the day of trekking, bring a printed map and compass, and walk while checking your position on the map with climbing equipment.

Printed versions of the map are distributed free of charge at roadside stations in Ibaraki Prefecture, municipal facilities in the northern part of the prefecture and outdoor equipment shops. A guide is also printed on the back of the map for your convenience.

There are many hotels, inns, campgrounds, etc. around the course in the central area, which was opened in March 2022.
However, there are no evacuation shelters or campsites on the course. Please act with a plan that you can descend from the mountain area by sunset.
