April 10, 2022: The first day of walking was held.
A hands-on experience event, “Walking Start,” was held on the Ibaraki Kenpoku Long Trail course, which was extended and opened to traffic in 2021.
Under the crisp spring weather, we were able to fully enjoy the attractions of the open course.
Thank you to all the participants!
Beginning of walk (April 10, 2022)
Under a crisp blue sky, the first day of the walking season began. | Twenty-nine people from the prefecture participated in the event. |
Now it’s time to set off. First, we will go to the Akaiwa village. | There is a counter at the entrance to the trail. Don’t forget to press the button. |
Continue through the cedar forest for a while. | After 40 minutes of continuous walking, we arrived at Akaiwa village. |
Someiyoshino, Hanamo, rape blossoms… the landscape of the village is tinged with spring colours. | We met some locals enjoying a walk. They told us the names of the flowers in bloom. |
From the village, you will enter the mountains again. | Continue through the mountain forest for a while until you reach the view point. |
Carefully climb up the large rock wall. | A 360° panorama awaited us. The fatigue of the past will also blow away. |
Eating rice balls while admiring the spectacular view is exceptional. | The course also includes a descent down a steep rock face. Proceed carefully to avoid slipping. |
You can also see a spectacular view from Okame-iwa. | We have arrived at signpost C-71. This is the end of the long trail course we will be walking. Continue on the existing trail and return to Akaiwa village. |
Once again, we descended into the village. | No matter how many times I see it, it is still a beautiful view. |
On the way back, we stopped at the Red Rock Lookout. | The observatory overlooks the Ryujin Suspension Bridge. After plenty of time to enjoy the course, we returned to the start point. Thanks to all participants for their hard work! |
