ACCESS-SE06:Two Suigun Lines~Over 90 years

The JR Suigun Line consists of two lines, one starting at Mito Station and ending at Hitachi-Ota Station, and the other branching off and leading to Fukushima and Koriyama in the far north.
In the Meiji Era, the first railroad to be built was the Mito to Ota line, known as the “Ota Railway. Later, in the Taisho era (1912-1926), the section on the Omiya side was opened as the “Ogun Line” and merged with the section on the Ota side, which changed to the “Mito Railway,” to create the “Suigun Line” with two destinations.
Extending northward, the Suigori Line connected with the Tohoku Main Line at Fukushima, linking new roads in the modern era. The line overcame disasters and flood damage, and today, 90 years after its full operation, it is still loved by many people as the “Okukuji Seiryu Line.
